Join us on Saturday, November 2nd, from 1-7 p.m. in downtown Gilroy for the 2nd Annual La Ofrenda Festival, a vibrant gathering that celebrates Dia de Muertos through art, tradition, and community spirit. This unique event blends cultural festivities with health and wellness resources, offering an experience to inspire, connect, and support the South County community.
La Ofrenda Festival honors Dia de Muertos—a cherished Mexican & Latin American tradition dating back over 3,000 years that celebrates life by honoring loved ones who have passed. The heart of this celebration lies in the ofrenda (altar) displays, adorned with candles, marigolds, photos, and favorite foods to welcome the spirits back for a visit on November 1st and 2nd. Attendees can experience the beauty and significance of these ofrendas as each one tells a unique story.
Throughout the festival, expect captivating performances, stunning displays by local artists, and a lively atmosphere filled with music, color, and community joy. In addition to the event, there will also be a special community bike ride, offering a chance to embrace both fitness and festivity. The festival also promotes wellness by partnering with local health services and community organizations such as VTA to provide valuable resources and support.
Getting to the festival is easy, thanks to VTA, a proud partner of La Ofrenda Festival. Take VTA Bus Routes 68, 84, and 85, and be sure to stop by the VTA booth to say hello. Don’t forget, you can use Clipper in your mobile wallet to pay fares and the Transit app to get your trip plan.
Mark your calendar, bring friends and family, and immerse yourself in the beauty of Gilroy’s La Ofrenda Festival. It’s more than an event—it’s a heartfelt celebration of life, culture, and community.
