As you have probably heard by now, we are making major changes to VTA service beginning Saturday, December 28. Ninety percent of our resources will be applied to our more heavily traveled routes, now with more frequent service. Be sure to check https://newservice.vta.org/ for details on all the changes.
And for the last four days of 2019, including New Year’s Eve, you’ll ride VTA free, throughout Santa Clara County, from December 28 – 31. No ticket, no downloading and no tagging required!
On New Year’s Eve only, the 181 bus line and light rail lines will run extended service approximately an hour later than usual. See more details here. (Download Transit App from the Apple Store or Google Play for real time updates to service schedules, or call VTA Customer Service.)
Orange is the New Line
Included in our redesigned transit service is the new Orange light rail line that will run between Alum Rock and Downtown Mountain View, connecting with the Milpitas Transit Center and BART service. The newly named Blue line (previously Santa Teresa to Alum Rock) will go as far as Baypointe, where you can transfer to the Orange line to continue to Alum Rock, or the Milpitas Transit Center and points in between. The Winchester to Mountain View line is now the Green line, which will go as far as Old Ironsides, where you can transfer to the Orange line to continue to Mountain View and points in between.
If it’s your first-time trying transit, we can help you on your way. New riders can get started with step-by-step instructions at www.newservice.vta.org, by emailing us at mailto:customer.service@vta.org or by calling VTA Customer Service at 408-321-2300.
Happy New Year from VTA!
