Over a four-night period in late August, several 75ft. concrete beams were lifted in place over the US-101/De La Cruz Boulevard interchange. This recent late-night full freeway closure work is part of the 2016 Measure B-funded US 101/De La Cruz Boulevard/Trimble Road interchange project.
Once the De La Cruz Boulevard overpass above US-101 is completed, traffic will be switched onto the new overcrossing structure, and the 60-year-old existing bridge will be demolished. Replacing the existing US-101 overcrossing will provide additional lanes and accommodate a new bike and pedestrian pathway. The pathway will travel along the De La Cruz Boulevard crossing toward a new pedestrian undercrossing at the southbound US-101 on- and offramps. View project design here.
