VTA has made a tremendous amount of progress in overhauling our aging infrastructure. However, the work to keep our system in a state of good repair is ongoing. VTA is scheduling several rehabilitation projects in the year ahead.
The shutdowns will focus on repairing and replacing items on the light rail tracks and overhead catenary system where equipment is approaching the end of its useful life.
As a result, segments of the light rail lines will be closed for construction periodically throughout the year, which may result in transit impacts on your commute. Light rail service in areas impacted by this construction will be replaced by bus service or a “bus bridge” to ensure passengers can still travel to their destinations. Riders are highly encouraged to plan their trip in advance.
We understand the inconvenience construction causes and thank our riders for their patience. Ensuring the light rail system is safe, reliable, and able to move at the intended speed remains a priority.
Below is a tentative schedule* of the first few planned transit impacts. Details are subject to change.
