October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Building on the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the 75th anniversary of NDEAM is a time for organizations to reaffirm their dedication to all forms of diversity. Especially for a public agency like VTA, embracing workers with disabilities is a critical part of representing the community we serve. This year's theme is "Increasing Access and Opportunity"
“Ensuring that America’s workplaces continue to include and accommodate people with disabilities will be an important part of our economic rebound,” said U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia.
"Employees with disabilities have historically been under-represented in the workplace, and VTA expressly welcomes them to consider a career with VTA," said Belle Pannu, senior HR analyst. "We champion a respectful, diverse, and inclusive workplace wherein all employees can contribute to their full potential. In compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), we offer accommodations to candidates during the recruitment and selection processes."

In addition to employment opportunities, VTA also serves those with disabilities through our Paratransit services. We provide more than 2,000 trips daily (pre-COVID) to approximately 7,000 eligible riders active in our system. Visit our VTA ACCESS Paratransit web page for more information.
