At VTA, we strive to create a safe and welcome environment for all people who ride or work on our buses, trains and use our stations.
VTA condemns the hateful, racist attack carried out March 10 at the Diridon Transit Center, and our hearts go out to the victim and her family.
In Santa Clara County, the Asian Pacific Islander American (API) community comprises 38% of the population. Hate-crimes against the API community have dramatically risen in the last year, both locally and nationally. We stand in solidarity with our API community and denounce these acts of hate and violence.
We urge you to join us in our zero tolerance of any action on our transit system that threatens the safety of those who use public transit services. We urge everyone to report any acts of racism, xenophobia or violence that occurs on VTA’s transit system - or anywhere - to help us ensure our passengers, employees and the communities we proudly serve are safe from hate, violence and harm.
You may call our Customer Service number with reports at 408-321-2300, or download VTAlerts on your smart phone to connect directly with law enforcement authorities. See Something, Say Something. We can all do our part to make this a more tolerant world.
