VTA would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to 2023 VTA Board Chair and Palo Alto City Councilmember Patrick “Pat” Burt for his support and commitment to public transportation.
Pat Burt joined VTA as a Board Member in 2021 and served as Chair in 2023. He actively engaged in the development of transportation policy in Santa Clara County and demonstrated his intelligent and capable leadership during his term as Chair facing a myriad of challenges, both financial and operational.
His commitment was displayed to all VTA’s workforce throughout his tenure on the Board of Directors as a member of the Safety, Security and Transit Planning and Operations Committee and his continued support of the growing VTA team.
Chair Burt was an effective advocate for the delivery of enhanced transit service and financial stability through his service as Vice Chair of the Capital Programs Committee, Chair of the Governance and Audit Committee, and membership on the Administration and Finance Committee. He also served on the Ad Hoc Grade Separations Committee to advance the Measure B projects dedicated to improving Caltrain grade crossings.
While on the Joint VTA/BART Working Committee Councilmember Burt advanced the working relationship between VTA and BART in support of the construction of VTA’s BART to Silicon Valley Phase II project. He established VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase 2 Steering Committee, serving as Chair, to provide meaningful oversight, control costs and successfully deliver the project.
VTA and the VTA Board of Directors commend Pat Burt for his exemplary public service to the residents of Santa Clara County.
