This week is the 61st anniversary of National Public Works Week, May 16-22, with a theme of "Stronger Together."  The observance is a celebration of those who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as "public works."

The many infrastructure projects VTA builds and maintains are included in this category, and this week, we are highlighting some of them. As an especially good example of the week's theme, we are reminded of the teamwork that went into rebuilding the Mathilda Ave Interchanges at Highways 101 and 237.

The $42 million Mathilda Avenue Improvements Project at SR 237 and US 101 was the first to be completed with 2016 Measure B funds and has helped improve the lives of those living, working, and traveling in Sunnyvale.

Safety and congestion improvements throughout the Mathilda Avenue corridor include new and reconfigured freeway on and off-ramps and additional travel lanes and traffic signals along Mathilda Avenue.

In addition to travel improvements for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists can also enjoy several changes, including a new multipurpose trail connecting Innovation Way to an existing pedestrian overcrossing at Borregas Avenue.

Please take a peak at this video for more on this exciting upgrade.
