There are multiple opportunities coming up where VTA can really use your input. Some are virtual, others are in person. Community meetings are one of the many ways we share information about what we're working on, and get much needed input from the community who will benefit from that work. Coming up, there are two meetings on November 15, take your pick and join us!
Valley Transportation Plan 2050
Wednesday, November 15 learn about some of the projects chosen for inclusion in the Valley Transportation Plan 2050 (VTP 2050) at our virtual community meeting.
VTP 2050 Virtual Community Meeting
Wednesday, November 15
6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Online via Zoom
RSVP on Eventbrite
Development of the VTP 2050, which sets the transportation vision for VTA, began late last year. This plan considers all modes of travel in Santa Clara County, including highways, local streets and roads, and expressways as well as transit, transportation systems, and active transportation.
At this meeting, VTA staff will share information about several of the projects selected to be in the VTP 2050. To be included, projects must meet one or more of the defined project goals. These goals were adopted by the VTA Board in June 2023:
- Implement faster, more frequent, and convenient transit;
- Prioritize active transportation to encourage healthier multi-modal options;
- Encourage land uses that create complete and convenient places;
- Address the climate emergency by reducing transportation emissions;
- Support equity in transportation;
- Pursue safe and reliable travel on highways and expressways
In addition to large capital investments, the VTP also includes smaller programs and policies meant to improve current transportation challenges. Meeting participants will have the opportunity to provide their prioritization of categories and share thoughts on specific actions for implementation.

Other Events
During the summer, we heard your ideas on improving access to the Berryessa/North San Jose Transit Center and Winchester Station.
As part of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) projects, we conducted a series of pop-up events, an online survey, and a station walk audit to understand how you use the station today. Your input has helped identify proposed improvements that will make the station areas safer and more convenient to walk, bike, ride a bus, and use a wheelchair.
VTA is following up to share what we learned and provide the opportunity to give feedback on proposed station access recommendations to ensure they align with the community’s expectations.
Participation is interactive, easy, fun, and takes only a few minutes. VTA is hosting pop-up events where you can connect with staff and share your feedback in person.
