The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), in cooperation with the City of Mountain View and the Department of Transportation (Caltrans), proposes to construct improvements at Middlefield Road and State Route (SR) 237 in the City of Mountain View.
The purpose of this project is to improve traffic operations and enhance safety along Middlefield Road from the Logue Drive intersection to 400’ south of the eastbound SR 237 off-ramp intersection. In addition, the project will implement Complete Streets improvements within the project area to be coordinated with other City of Mountain View improvements for enhanced bicycle and pedestrian access and safety.
Project Features
The proposed improvements may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Utilize technology to improve operations and enhance safety
- Construct a new loop on-ramp from northbound Middlefield Road to westbound SR 237
- Construct a mandatory exit lane on northbound Middlefield Road to the new loop ramp
- Realign westbound frontage road at the approach to Ferguson Drive creating a standard four-legged intersection at Middlefield Road
- Construct a roundabout at the Middlefield Road/Ferguson Drive intersection
- Widen both sides of Middlefield Road to accommodate modification for the new loop ramp
